Ok guys I'm still searching for the perfect motor for my truck. I have to get rid of this V6 and I need some input...I plan on lifting my truck about six inches or whatever and I want to know which motor would be appropriate. My 2001 2WD 5 speed RCSB needs a makeover and deciding on a motor is critical. Appreciate the help!!!

welp, if money is no object go for a 7.0L LS1. If you want to be sane and light weight, LS6 is the only way to start out. If you want go with light weight and you want to save a little on your budget, 5.7L LS1. If you want power on the cheap, go for a 6.0L truck engine. If you just want a V8 you can get 4.8 and 5.3s cheap cheap cheap. Guys here are almost giving them away.

As for lift kits, from my personal experience, stay away from Fabtech 2WD lift kits unless you never plan on driving it on the street again. The only kit that is half decent relocates the lower a-arm down the distance of the lift. IMO, go with rancho or someone else.

Which works great for us S-10 guys. Our drivetrains cannot handle the torque of a 6.0L all that well. The 5.3L is a little more sane for us. And since all of you are upgrading and giving them away, we can get some sweet prices on the things! Additionally I am not putting a 5.3L in mine just to put a V8 in. With the cam, tuning, and such it should kick out 300HP. I think that extra 100hp over stock should be enough to move my 35" tires.

You may want to consider the 5.3 stock with stock exhaust and install the STS turbo. jerry2500 should be showing some results soon.
