    Starter

2001 5.3 from Suburban, 2002 T-56 from Trans AM......which starter do I use??? I am assuming the one for the T-56 flywheel, so the LS1 starter?

I'm looking on ebay and it seems the 5.7 car starter and 6.0 2500 starter is the same, and the 1500 5.3 starter is not on the "interchange list"

Thats my guess. I didn't know there was a different starter for stick vs. auto.

There was for my 2.0 hyundai. When my TC stripped off its splines, the one i ordered from O-reallys was too far from the starter to start. Had to get the starter from a standard hyundai, it reached the additional 3/4 inch and starts the beast every time!

I guess my question is do i match the engine, or transmission for starter selection?

match it to the flywheel you're using. If an fbody manual flywheel, get a manual fbody starter if there is a different starter for the auto vs. manual transmission.
