    Opinions on which 5.3

I'm trying decide between a couple of 5.3's. One is an 02ish complete engine w/ harness and ecm for $950. The other is an 07 complete w/ harness and ecm (a lot less miles) for a few hundred more dollars(does come w/ the pedal). It will be going in an 83 k5. I'll be keeping the current trans in it for now (sm465). Is there much of a diff between the years of 5.3's power wise? Will there be much difference between the two with the install? Do you think one would be any better on fuel than the other? I'm leaning towards the earlier one that would have cable throttle, just because the electronic throttle seems more complicated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Gary

I would go with the 02 for simplicity's sake.

What year did they start putting 243 heads on the truck engines? Because if it was 07 Id go with the newer 5.3.
