i am about to be in possession of a 2000 ls1 that i am going to carb and use my th350 on for now due to lack of funds.

what do i need to do to make my th350 work? i have heard that i may need either a different flywheel or a different converter, or possibly both.

what modifications need to be made to the motor mounts?

the motor has 115k miles on it. what would you recommend replacing, if anything? rod bolts, gaskets, pistons?

and like i said, i dont have just a handful of money to throw at it, i am getting the motor for very cheap and would like to think i could put 30k more miles on it or so before having to to anything to it.

    any help is appreciated.

    thanks

get the motor mounts on Ebay.

The intake will require a stand-alone ignition controller, they come as a kit. you can't just throw a carb on there and have it work as far as I know.

i am mainly wondering about the tranny.

Use the engine as-is unless you know there's a problem with it. I think you have to drill or slot the holes in the flexplate a little to get the holes to align. you'll need a crank extension or converter extension to mate the converter up to the LS1 crankshaft, which is shorter than the Gen1 engines.

Use the fuel injection. It's not that much more expensive. NelsonPerformance can build you a simple 5 wire wiring harness and tune your PCM to run on basic essentials. After that all you really need is a walbro fuel pump, filter, connectors and some hose. Maybe $200 at the most in parts to do the fuel lines.

but then i have to buy a tranny and converter which i figure will run about $1000. right? plus $500 for the harness, $150 for the ECM, and $200 for the fuel system..it all adds up and i am not sure if i can fork over that much in the next few months.

how much fuel pressure does the fuel pump need to be able to support? do you have the part number for the Walbro i will need?

and this truck will be my daily driver, only 6 miles round trip to work, after june 26th.

A manual valve body would simplify matters.

If you stick with injection, have the PCM reprogrammed as if it had a manual trans. Not an automatic. You do not need to change out your valve body on the T-350, it can remain stock. The reason for the PCM reprogram to a manual trans is to prevent the PCM from "looking" for a trans and preventing a slew of codes from setting.
