95% of the time it is the fuel pump.

Replace the distributor cap and rotor if so equipped. Look for carbon tracing in the cap. Check for fuel, air and spark since they are the three ingredients for a combustion engine to function properly.

If it will start with a boost of starting fluid I would bet your pump is going out. If it won't start with the starting fluid then you have an electronic problem somewhere.

When my fuel pump went out you could hit on the bottom of the gas tank with a wrench or something while trying to start it & it would start. My pump was getting stuck though & it wouldn't make any noise at all. It's worth a shot though I guess.

I dropped the gas tank when I changed mine, but yeah I guess you could take the bed off. I think it's just 4 bolts or so.

It's like 6 bolts and then you can tilt it or lift it up and back. You have to unbolt the filler neck and disconnect the tail light wiring at the back driver's side.
