hey i have a few questions about the wiring on this conversion.
#1 the s10 fuel gauge is setup crazy.it has a buffer that has a 12v+, a 5v,a ground ,and a signal, the last the are from the pcm then 1 wire to the tank and one to the gauge.on the 2000 model 5.3 donor engine it has one wire from the pcm to the tank and one wire from the pcm the cluster, but that one wire is a serial data line that runs all the gauges.so i don't think that i can just eliminate the buffer ass. and just run the serial data to my old style gauges.any help please?
    #2the park/neutral switch.
the s10 needs input from the switch to make the gear selector on the dash to work, but the 2000 model 5.3L needs that input for the pcm in order to tell it what gear it is in.the only thing i can figure out is to maybe use 4 double pole relays or leave either the dash or the pcm one without the input from that switch?
#3 my 97 dash has a light bulb in the dash for the service engine soon light, but the donor uses a LED instead.i thought maybe put a led in the dash in place of the bulb or just leave the bulb.but i don't know if the bulb will draw to much amperage since it has less resistance than the led does.any help would be great!

by the way my truck is 1997 s10 that had an auto and a 4 cyl from the factory, the engine is a 2000 model 5.3L with a 4l60 trans.i am trying to make a harness from the two of them.i got the pcm, harness, and all the accessories with the donor engine.
    any help would be geat.
    thanks in advance Ronald.

Not sure what to do for the fuel guage, you don't have to hook it to the PCM. Maybe you can use an older gauge that will read directly off of your sending unit? I don't think there is a way to devide out the serial data to run a fuel gauge.
I and others here don't have the PCM hooked to any neutral safety switch so I'm sure you don't need it for the PCM to work correctly.
I use a light bulb on my check engine light so that would not be a problem.
Hope this helps. Maybe Red and others can chime in if they have any thing to add.

You could always leave the original PCM in place and piggyback the signals to the donor engine, that way all your dash signals would still work properly. The SES light will work with a light bulb. The signal to light the bulb is a ground from the PCM, not a power positive feed. The lights for the shift control, I have no idea on that one. The PCM sends a grounding signal to the transmission when it shifts from gear to gear via the computer. I suppose you could somehow use that ground signal.
