Thread: Changing radiator and fan advice

  1. #1
I am curious to see what all is involved in changing out the radiator and fan. I have a small radiator it is 28 and i am looking to upgrade to a 34 what all is involved in doing this if it is to much of a hasel then i will just stay with mine and go with a ls1 fan. So for those who have done this i would love your input and if you have pictures of before and after that would be wonderful. Also where can i get a set of e fans 05 if i go with the bigger radiator again thanks.

    Work in progress.........

It bolts right in with the shroud for the 05 GM fans. I bought my fans off e-bay.

I just swapped out my 28" radiator for a 34" radiator in my 2000 5.3 Silverado. It was one of the easiest things I have ever done to my truck. I thought I would have a problem with the clips on the trans lines but they were really easy once I figured them out. My goal is to hang a set of 05 efans in there. I had another truck and installed Flex-a Lite fans and had nothing but trouble and ended up ripping them out. They just couldn't cool the radiator.

I have a 28 in. radiator on my 04 5.3 and same problem . Maybe it is the intercooler in front of it that is causing the problem. Engine blocks are cast in sand . Mabe the radiator has a few cloged tubes in there. Dunno
