odd gauge thing just happened, anybody seen this?
HI, some background, my truck is a '01 denali, all stock. I have had is for 3 years. Rebuilt trans 2.5 yrs ago, new fuel pump and sending unit maybe a year ago. Have had intermittent starting issues over last year, turn key, no crank, just clicking from cabin fuse box. So i'm home recovering from surgery now and decide to spend some time looking for no start, wired up a light to eventually rule out ignition switch, and finally the park/neutral switch just this past weekend. Damn intermittent problem, it's narrowed to the starter and under hood fuse box, i figured i need a starter for my project truck anyways so I'll just try this.
here is what happened, swapped out the starter just now, while under the truck figured i would change the oil. hooked the battery back up, reset the oil life light, look at the rest of the gauges and my fuel is pinned way past full over at the 5 o'clock position. right about now I'm thinking what else, I need to trade this in on a newer model. so I undid both battery cables this time, touched them together, then hooked them back up, got in the truck, turned the key, the gas needle went from full max, then I watched it flick very quickly back to mid tank where its should be. so it's ok now, but for how long now and why did that happen?
anybody encounter this? maybe some of the 9-5 wrenchers? I don't work at GM, i work at one of those import stores.
