I have a 1979 Silverado K10. I am putting in the 6.0L H.O. and beefed-up 4L60E combo. All the wiring needs to be replaced. I am not a fan of the '79 HVAC system (heat only out the bottom, AC only out of the upper vents, weak fan, etc.) I want to replace the whole system with a 2002-2004 HVAC system, soup to nuts. That snowballed into wanting the modern wheel with radio controls and a stock in-dash 6 disc changer/stereo. The truck had power locks and windows put the wiring and solenoids/motors are on their way out.
If I have access to the modern HVAC, Steering column and wheel, poer locks, windos, etc. Can I make it work with a modern dash harness and BCM??
IF so, is there anyone or anyplace that can or will do a custom BCM tune?? I will not have active airbags or ABS, GM security system, etc. I would like to shut those down and keep open what I am going to put in, but I do not know which of the systems I want to put in are connected with the BCM . . . Do I have to match the BCM with the ECM I use?
Is all this possible or is this just a pipe dream and I should go buy quality aftermarket systems and have a custom dash harness built?
