    Hello again guys,
Its been awhile since the last time I posted. My latest venture with my truck if finally doing something about the interior. Its that nasty boring grey color. I have decided to paint all the palstics to include dash, pilars and door panels.

My question is...how do you remove the door panels? I have manual crank windows and can not seem to find anyway to remove them. Also..how do you remove the plastics that house the seatbelt returns mounted on the floorboard. I am starting this product in a couple hours as soon as it gets light outside. Thanks in advance for your help.

There is a wire c-clip at the back of the handle. The post has teath like a gear and the c-clip keeps the handle held on. If you are good use a screw driver to push the clip out, if you feel tendencies to scewer yourself they make a window handle remover that pushes both sides out evenly for under $5 at your local parts store. When you get it iff just put the c-clip on the handle and then just push it back on and it will be in place.

    Good luck...

Can't remember it's been a while since I owned that '91 sportside of mine. Never hurts to have the Haynes manual, it has great pictures and gives a decent explanation.

Remove the screw in the pockets of the inside door handles. The rest is plastic push pins around the perimeter of the door. They make a tool to remove the plastic friction lock pins from their respective holes in the doors. Personally, I never use one, I just grab the panel and pull carefully and use a small pry bar on the plastic pin when I can see it. Replacement pins are cheap if you need them later. I buy the GM ones to guarantee a snug fit if I happen to trash one.

Oh yeah, so true. After you pull all the pins you do have to lift it upwards to get it free of the window sheet metal. Mine also had a pin holding the panel to the door up by the mirror. What a PITA that proved to be.

Man...I got the dash and pillars done today. I attempted to remove the window crank with a tool I got from auto parts store. I could not for the life of me get that lil bitch off...maybe I was just fatigued.....plus it was over 94 degrees out today so maybe it was a good thing I called it quits.

to remove the door handles I take a small finish nail and bend it at a 90 degree angle about 3/16" from the end and then hold the thing with a pair of vice grips. I then push the door panel so i can see the c-clip and I hook it and pull with the bent nail. Worked every time in my old truck.

Don't be afraid to push the panel in to get a look at the post and c-clip. Have you given your sacraficial blood so the project will work?

You know the rules of working on a vehicle, "NO BLOOD, NO WORK. "
