I'm guessing you want to keep the factory texture and change the color. Right?

Go with trim/bumper paint from SEM. Duplicolor has a habit of disappointing me.
For prep, probably just need to spray-on-wipe-off adhesive cleaner, once dry shoot on a medium coat of SEM sand free or 3M 5907 let dry for about 10 minutes, then it's all ready for the color change.

Make sure your piece has a good, sturdy place to sit. It's important that you are able to spray EVERYTHING visible when on the truck, and some areas that aren't visible. I probably don't have to say this but, try not to handle the plastic, that surface needs to be perfectly clean.
Remember you are coating textured plastic, keep the coats light.

I painted my '05 factory gray grill black, and it still looks the same as the day i did it. When painting plastic adhesion promoter is very important. It is also very important to have the surface clean before you do anything. I also finished off the paint job with clear coat. I run my truck through the car wash at work atleast once a week, and nothing ever gets peeled off.
GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT RICER MATH!

i painted my Grille assemble a couple of months ago.

Sanded the whole thing down, cut the inserts out. I cleaned mine with grease and wax remover to make sure everyhting was off. Then clean it with soap and water, until the water bubbles up across the whole surface.
Used Bully Dawg adhesion Promoter. Then just painted it with a cheap can of nason i had mixed with a flex agent, then layed clear. Now its starting to flake where the chrome was, but i'm not to worried right now. I wanna do the Z71 front bumper, air dam, and fogs lights. Then color matche everything except air dam, sometime begin next year. SO i didnt even try to paint the Upper bumper plastic
