If you sand out all the grain, then your pieces will end up a little smaller.
What I did for bumper covers is- clean the plastic (3M adhesive cleaner), add a coat of adhesion promoter(3M 5907) let it sit for ten minutes, then apply filler (I think used a dynatron product just for certain plastics) any other filler will not work. For sand paper: start with a grit between 80 and 180 on a flexible pad and do your finish sanding with 220.
80grit is way too course and 180 might not cut enough.

What kind of plastic are those pieces? I could give some better instructions.
Look for an ISO code. it will say PP, PE, ABS, etc.

Check a paint/body supply store. It comes in a similar container that finishing glaze comes in.

There are different formulas for different plastics. What's under the hood is most likely be a different plastic that what's inside the truck.
Find out the name of plastic used for the specific pieces you want to work with. finding the stuff you need will be much easier.

If you can't post a quick picture of the raised lettering on a few of those parts I can tell you what they are.

I started to use a product called polyflex its made by evercoat, I'm using it on my bumper cab and dash. You should find it at your local paint store.

You mean the plastic over and under the bumper? I want to smooth and paint mine also. Post pics and let us know the ease of use.
