    For all you 4x4 guys

Not sure if this has been brought up before but I will anyways. I am doing my 5.3 and 4l60e swap and I found out that if you still want to use a manual transfer case you can use an eighties np208 transfer case. The spline counts are the same and so is the bolt pattern so it mounts up perfectly. Just thought I could see if I could help someone out.Travis

They do bolt up just fine, but you run into problems with the speed sensors. The old TBI speed sensor is just a 4 pulse and the 4L60e needs a 40 pulse to shift. We ran into this when we put a 97 Votec and 4L60e with a NP208 transfer case. The trans wouldnt shift until redline and then it would shift really hard. We ended up drilling and tapping the rear trans case and putting in a reluctor and speed sensor from Jags That Run, but the 99 4L60e out of mine is different in the rear so that sensor set up wont work. Back to the drawing board.

Hey thanks for letting me know that. So what all do I need to make this work? Do you have any part numbers? Thanks for the help.

Oh and my T-case was in an 85 so it wasnt TBI. I don't know if that will make a difference or not.

K guys I figured it out guys on the pre 87 pickups you must run an np241 transfer case out of either a 90 or 91 blazer. These will have the right speed sensor and will bolt up. Hope this helps someone out there.

I dont know what the part numbers are just yet, but a np241 speed sensor only has 4 pulse per driveshaft revolution. The LSX PCM needs to see a 40 pusle signal. I will see if I can get the part numbers but search for "Jags That Run" and they should be able to help you out. Someone also makes a driveshaft mounted VSS but that didnt sound like a great idea foe what we do with these trucks.

lol ugh this is frustrating. I talked to a few people and they said it would work. I wounder if you can switch out the sensor? You the driveshaft deal probably would work for me because of snow and such. Oh well more research.

wouldn't something like a Dakota Digital box be a lot easier and cheaper to do?

Thats what I have heard but I couldn't find it. This is turning into kind of a headache and I almost wish I would have just used a 700r4.
