Since I've gotten the 4.10s I shift into 3rd at aroudn 80MPH if I remember correctly.
When I'm at the track it pisses me off because right before I get to the finish line, it shifts into 3rd which I think robs me of a little time.
Can I change it(with Edit) so that I stay in second? Or do the 4.10s ruin any chance of that happening? If I went back to 3.73s would that be possible?

ok, here is or was my dilema, i had 3.42's and was shifting into 3rd right at the line. it seemed as though i was shifting and getting the 2-3 jump right before the line. everyone else says they get that with 3.73's or 4.10's. i had my shift points set at 5900. i changed to 3.73's and are hoping my truck won't do it now. i can't figure out why it did it with 42's, unless pred sucks that bad. sorry for hijacking your thread. just seemed we have the same prob even tho diff gears..

Chingon.. what are your shifts set at now? I would think with 4.10s, you should be in third well before the traps. But if you are shifting kinda low, I would tring bringing the shift up to 6000 and see if that will get you through. What is your rev limiter set at? You may also want to try to manualy hold it in second to see if you can get through without bouncing the revlimiter.

I set my 1-2 shift at 6000 and my 2-3 shifts at 5900 or 6000.
My HPP3 settings are +4 +12 and the last one is at whatever....
I shift into 3rd at about 80MPH....I finish the 1/4 at around 88MPH...
Rev limiter set at 6200

hey chingon i have the 4.10 gear and shift into 3rd at the 1/8 mile trap @74mph, and finish the 1/4 at 89mph so your probly pretty close to me unless your 60' times are killing you? so what size tire do you have on your truck?? your shift points are where i had mine with the hpp3 so look at your 1/8 mile trap speed and that will tell you where you shift into 3rd. and with the 4.10 there is no way to finish the 1/4 unless you use some really big tires lol! later, kevin

If you set your 2-3 shift to 6200, that would probably fix it, but it might be too much.Try what BigKid said.

Yeah with 4.10:1s you will shift out fast...remember that TownCar pic I sent you on the strip I had? That would be 3rd before the 1/8th was over. Had 26" tires too...I think it shifted into 3rd around 70mph. Shift points were around 5800rpms w/ it.

So do you think going with 3.73s I would be able to finish the 1/4 at the top of second if I set the shifts as high as possible?
Or should I go with 3.42s?
With this Vig3200 I have shit tractino off the line...I figure with the higher gears I'll have good top end...and the Vig will help with the crappy low end the 3.42 gears give.
