I don't know what all anyone in here can tell me about the predator. I just want some good info (better than what I got on LS1tech). Can I run 87 octane, and in what way is installing a program going to affect my gas mileage? I am looking at getting one because I am not really going to do so much stuff to my truck that I need a tune so I think the Predator is probably a better alternative to a HPP3. Any thoughts?

I use edit to tune so I guess you know my thoughts on it. It's the only hand-held I sell becuase it's the only one that is tunable and has the diags built in.
If you're not going to do a lot of mods and just want a nice running truck, then a tune from me would be best, lol, seriously, if you're not needing to change things all the time , then a mail order tune is perfect.
The hand helds will always limit the amount of changes you can do.
Plus with a nice tune, you'll probably gain some mpg in addition to more hp and tq.

in order to run 87 in the truck i think you'll have to get a custom tune made. my mileage picked up with my predator. i do run 93 at every fill up and have since thought my truck runs better. ok, yea i have a tune to help with that but i think the gas has a lending hand as well. basically it is a trade off. sounds funny but more expensive gas gets me farther down the road. however you save a few coins by buying 87 and not go as far. this is my experience.

Werd dog, Allen is the man, but the handheld's tune is easily turned off, without the trip to a shop. It's quick, easy, and oh yea, we sell those cheap too...haha

Don't forget you can't remove that Predator from your PCM after installation either. I heard they maybe able to in the near future but don't hold your breath.

Also...Allen is cheaper and better than the Predator now too. At first I was apprehensive of gettin a tune but am soooooooo glad I did. I ran a HPP3 on my old 99 Z71 and it barely did anything power wise. A real tune is far better than a handheld.

The only upside is the Diagonistic capacity of the Predator now.
