Why you taking off the O2 sensers? What are the benifits of that?

There are 4 O2 sensors. Two in front of the cats are for fuel metering and two after the cats to measure the effectiveness of the cats. If you remove the cats (or just don't care to have them) you can delete the rear O2 sensors. The PCM will throw a code if you remove them. You can use LS1 Edit to delete them or use a little plug in simulator to make the PCM think they are still there. The benifits are the PCM calculates(doesn't actually measure) cat temperture and when it thinks the cats are getting too hot it adds fuel to cool them(called cat overtemp COT). This makes the engine run slightly rich and can hender performance. I would edit this out if you don't have cats, if you do I would keep the rear O2s.

Go in to edit, duh, lol.

    Engine Diagnostic, Hardware Diagnostic, then

Find all the bank 1 and 2 tests that have Sensor 2 in them and toggle them off.

Does error set SES = off
    Error Mode = off

    this should do it,

too bad on the 2nd, it'll be a blast, i'll take the video and get some good footage, maybe have a passenger to tape it all.

I have mine turned off too, I don't feel like getting bent for $90/ea when they go bad. Also my EGR is off.

You say that with the rear 02 sensors on, the PCM will add fuel to cool the cats if they get too hot, and making you run rich.
If you turn the rear 02 sensors off and you still have the cats, that would ruin the cats because you don't have the rear 02 sensors to tell the PCM to cool them off by adding fuel, right?

I live in Cali, and while I want to get the most out of my truck by tuning it, I also have to pass smog. If I turned the rear 02s off, and then back on when I go get a smog would I be fine? Or would the cats be fucked and would that make me not pass?
I guess what I really want to know is if turning off the rear 02s is worth a decent gain in power or not?
