I installed my tune and when I started up my truck the check engine light stays on. Does anyone have any ideas?

First thing you need to buy/borrow a cheapy OBDII scanning tool and find out the DTC. My guess is you have the 'Crankshaft System Variation Not Learned' condition. I had it on my 2004 after my first PCM swap, it was P0315. It may be different for yours, but will be something like P03XX.
Next, you need to find someone with a Genisys (or similar) tool that can perform the crankshaft relearn. It should only take a few minutes at the most if the technician knows what they're doing.
I had several "reputable" auto shops around here wanting to charge me $90 to $95 to perform it. One wanted $110and told me they needed to charge that much because it was such a "touchy and complicated" procedure. Another said, "Well, that's the going rate". Huh? It's more like they got ya' by the nads and they know it! They will never see me as a customer.
I finally found a local shop that did it for $40 (still to high IMHO). And yes, it took about a two minutes once the tech hooked up the tool.
If you do have the crankshaft relearn condition, it does not hurt to drive it that way for a while. But it doesn't help either. You need to get it fixed sooner than later.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.

tipp, I'm assuming here when you said "installed the tune", you mean swapped PCMs.Originally posted by SlammaDingdong@May 9 2005, 08:22 PM

Can they scan my truck at like the local autozone or do I need to just take it to a dealership? Also, the dealership won't try to flash my truck will they, would that not kill my tune? Yes slammin, I meant I swapped the PCM's.Originally posted by SlammaDingdong@May 9 2005, 09:22 PM

You can get the DTC at an "AutoZone like" place if they perform that service. But the basic tool they have probably won't be able to perform the cs relearn and clear the code, if that is your problem. But yes, if you can get the DTC free of charge, that's a good first step. Note that a basic ODB II scanner, like an Actron, is not that expensive. It's probably a good thing to have anyway.Originally posted by tipp@May 9 2005, 08:29 PM

A more professional grade (expensive!!OBD II tool is needed for the cs relearn. Some others may want to chime in on this, but DON'T take it to the dealer yet man! I'm not sure how they would react or what they would do.
It may take some footwork, but you should be able to find a local garage that has a Genisys or similar tool and won't charge you an arm-and-a-leg.

Well I got my trucked scanned at the local Autozone, it was the crankshaft relearn. So I called up a friend I have that works at the dealrship where I bought the truck, and he fixed it for free! I installed my friends on his truck and he was not so lucky. His truck seemed to be missing very badly, it also had the check engine light on it! I have no idea what could be wrong with his, does anyone else? Allen said he would take care of it, so I'm not really worried, just curious.
