    2011 5.3 with AFM/DOD and a 6L80

I would love it if Allen/farmtruck would respond to this.

Anyone have one tuned yet? How big of a difference? What was done to the tune? I can tell that the TM is killing this truck. I also have no clue what the 6L80 can handle.

I have HPTuners but haven't downloaded beta version of 2.23 yet, so for now, I get a TCM "access denied" code. I think I'll wait until they officially release the version before I download my computer. With the help of a friend I did the tune on my blown Avalanche myself but I'm not as brave with this brand new truck and it's warranty.

I'm not willing to give up any mpg at this point but I know this truck has a lot more in it.

(Specifically for Allen, if I pull my tune, email it to you, will you mod the tune, let me load it, that way I have my original tune if if has to go back to the dealer for any reason? I can send logs under any situations that you want if you would like. I don't expect a discount, I just like having the stock tune stored and reloadable in case it has to go back to the dealer)

BTW: it will have a cat-back going on it next week. I'm not taking this one as extreeme as I did the AV but I want a bit more than I have now.

i absolutely love my 6l80e. i have a 2010 5.3 6l80 342 truck. with no load behind it i get 24mpg on the highway. 17 average to work. pulling 7000lb trailer load im 13-15

from factory with a muffler truck dynod stock 25X RWHP 26X rwtq this was on a mustang dyno. AFR from factory was 11.8

i leaned it out some and gained rpm pull and added a few degrees of timing and it dyno'd 270rwhp/279rwtq on a mustang dyno. all stock minus a magnaflow 30" muffler runs on 93octane

i have little over 16k worht of miles with this configuration and doesnt skip a beat. im usually hauling atleast 5500lbs every other weekend

i had the trans shifting hard but after one day i realized it wasnt me. the 6l80 is a beast but in the wrong hands it can be burned up asap, if your smart it can last a long time. i couldnt imagine going back to a 3 or 4 speed trans again after having this 6 speed.

the new 5.3 is stout from factory others have seen nice gains going with headers and etc.

    2002 Silverado - 427Lsx w/ Twin gt4202s
    2010 Silverado crewcab Z71 - 5.3litre w/ procharger
    2000 Wrangler - 5.3litre with some stance
    2014 Xsport- 3.5 Eco boost
    412 Motorsports

it ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors, It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em..That's the difference

Thanks for the input. I also have 3.42 gears but in a ECSB 4X4. So far I love the 6 speed too. It doesn't hunt for gears but it's always in the right gear. I tow a 4000# boat a few time a year. so towing isn't my real worry. I don't know how it will stand up to reduced (or eliminated) TM with increases line pressure and shortened desired shift times. 10-15 rwhp and wrtq gains from a tune would be well worth the time and money. I will license the '11 as soon as 2.23 is released to the public. I'm just a bit leary of doing much to it myself, since I'm not familure with this motor/trans. I'm still thinking that I need to get it broke in and pay Allen a few $ to do it for me. If I feel like tweaking it a bit afterwards, I probably will as long as I can load the stock tune back in the unlikely event of a warranty issue.

I doubt that I will have any issues but with only 600 miles on it, I want to cover my all of bases.

6L80 will handle a lot of abuse, I logged well over a 100 runs on my 2010 CC shifting so hard it would do 1, 2 and 3rd gear scratches. I gave that truck to my Daughter for graduation and she is still driving it today with out any problems. I believe there is about 19,000 miles on it now, maybe more.

Allen has a video on here some where of it shifting, I will see if I can find it.
