Thread: Engine Diagnostic tool

  1. #1
    Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone had any info on a bugdet engine diagnostic scanner of some type. I have seen some such as OTC, auto xray, EZ Scanner, and the like on ebay and was wondering if you guys had some info on them. Do any of them tell you what is going on in your engine as its running and plugged in? Example-- #2 cylinder misfire or something of the sort.

do you own a laptop? if not then one of the otc or other brands will work. the only problem is that with the handheld scanners that check in the few hundred dollar range is that they will not log a lot of things. autotap or efi live are great products that can be used with a palm reader or laptop.

Yeah, i have access to a laptop, which would help. I also saw on the gmfullsize how dark eternal had a little setup with a desktop on a cart, which i could do. The laptop would obviously be nicer as you can drive with it. It might look a little funny hanging a desktop computer out the window testing my truck...haha
