Hey guys, im about to order my nelsons tune and i have been bombarding allen with questions i feel bad so i would like to know what you guys think and i have a couple questions.......any advice would be much appreciated.

ok i have a 2000 2500 with the 6.0.....only mod is k&n filter, i figure thats worth at least 85 rwhp anyways, my other truck has built motor and all the goodies and i want to pretty much leave this one alone...its my daily driver and i want it to remain very reliable, im not looking to win any races...just a better tune that i have read so much about. right now im leaning towards the dual 87-89 tune set up for economy....seems like everyone that gets the dual tune likes it and then steps up to the 93 hot tune 90 octane is as high as we get at the pumps where i am....and if im getting way better results with the higher octane i can always go for a 90 tune later.....so what i would like to know is what do you guys have, and what have you noticed, power wise, gas milage.....how much tm did you get removed, stuff like that. im going on a 10,000 mile road trip mid november and a few miles per gallon better would make a huge difference!

when i get the new pcm am i going to get whatever the milage was in the last truck it was in or is that something that you can specify?? thanks all

I picked up about 2mpg on average and around 3mpg freeway only.

Summer is 15avg, 18hwy... Winter is 15.5 avg, 20hwy. No AC use in the summer

Truck is the '01 Z71 ext cab, ~5500lbs, 3.73:1 gears, I go 70mph on the freeway, SungTop, and that's about it. I have a few other mods like an FIPK, e-fans, and a full exhaust.

you know i aksed a lot of people about allen and his tunes and what to do. but i found out one thingALLEN IS THE BEST TO ASK SINCE HE IS THE ONE DOING THE TUNING. he has all kinds of advice. i have listened to everything he has said and it all worked out. if you only have 90 octane then stay around the 89 tune. good luck.

oh yay i need to get one of them 85hp k&n kits to. where did you get that again.

have a friend that got the dual tune and he didnt like the results..go with the 90 tune with all the tm removed.your truck will be so much stronger, the engine wont even have to work as hard to get you from a to b and your gas mileage will increase.why get something in the middle when your payin same price for all the tunes...get the hot tune ...you wont regret it and you will have to go have plastic surgery to remove that smile of your face..oh and as far as reliability...your not going to have any trouble out of the tune..your truck will thank you for it... i dont drag race my truck either but if someone wonts to play..i got a big secret for em...nelson tune...thats all i got to say bout that...nuff said..

Get the highest octane tune you can. You wont regret it. The added power helped out my milege enough to offset the cost of the premium fuel. Allen's tunes are sweet, you be very pleased.

It takes about a week for me to get my pcm returned, but I suppose it just depends on how busy he is. I believe I paid before I got to talk to him when I got mine, but it was a group purchase so I had to pay first anyways. If I were you I would call and let him know you need it before Nov. 12 just to make sure.
