Are All Dbw Trucks Dogs On The Takeoff?

i ask becouse ive got a 05 crew, 4.10's with an auburn, long tubes, magnaflow, ngk's, msd wires, k&n cold air, trango shift kit, and a small cam
210 218 530ish, but the truck is an absolute dog up to 3k rpm. nelson tune did make it pull harder but still no bottom end. wont spin a tire. truck gets beat by stock 6.0 trucks with drive by cable and a 5.3 dbc is right on my arse! i should have 60-70 horses more than these stock trucks but the pound me on the takeoff. every cable operated throttle body ive driven has more takeoff than me. drove a stock 5.3 4wd today with 3.42's and its worse than mine, of course it should be its stock. but my point being, cable trucks seem peppier, and faster off the line than a drive by wire truck. comments anyone?.....gene

part is due to a cam and no stall...rest is due to a 5.3 and a 5000+lb truck...takes a lot of torque to get a big truck moving
    2006 silverado SS....Clifford Jr...turbo coming soon
    1970 Chevelle ly6 swap....d1 coming soon

mean05, thanks for the input. i agree on the wieght issue. but take in mind im comparing only trucks here. not my vette, or my ss. just trucks. have you driven both styles? did you notice a difference? i see a big difference.

the cam, i thought would be small enough to boost torque, not kill it. maybe my thinking is wrong on this one. it is actually one step smaller than what comp cams recommended for my truck, a daily driver with light mods that will tow my cars around. its a baby compared to my other vehicles.

im completely up for suggestions and comments.

well also check out the torque ratings from a 5.3 to a 6.0...5.3 does what 285 and 6.0 does 345...yes your cam is small but it will still kill the low end torque out a little...it did boost your torque just at a different rpm...look at getting a small stall like 2,600-3,000...i still tow with mine being a 3,000.

my last truck was an 05 SCSB Z71 and it was a complete turd out of the hole as was my SS until i did a tune and killed the ALL TM out of it...the stall didnt do much for my SS but it made a world of difference on my 5.3

I have DBW and my truck is a rocket out of the hole. Well to me anyway 1.9 60's with the right tires easy. Mean is correct, with all that truck you need a 3k for good digs

If you are in houston you could come by and we could log it to see if it is pulling timing out of the hole, and to verify throttle position is at 100% when you nail it. I live in Tomball so if you are close let me know. Keep in mind that with the heat we are having the power is going to be way down this time of year. Anyway at least you would have logs to send Allen.

so it seems the next best mod would be a convertor?

any opinions on the trailblazer inline 5 cylinder convertor? i like the fact its still factory.

thinking about it, convertor may be the answer. i noticed the truck sometimes stumbles hard when stopping. almost like its going to die, then catches itself and idles. maybe this is the idle speed against a locked vertor. just like coming to a stop in a standard without pushing in the clutch.
