Thread: Will my truck run?

Right now my computer is programmed for 44 lb/hr injectors. If I put the stock ones back in, will it run fine at least to make it to the dealership about 15 miles away for a reburn or will it probably spit and sputter and throw a few codes? I know putting the bigger ones in with a stock tune won't run very well, but i'm not sure about the other way around. Any help would be appreciated.

It should be okay, but if you are that worried about it, why don't you pull the pcm and take it to the dealer to be flashed? Most dealers have bench flash capabilities. Call them and ask. You should only need the PCM and the VIN.

The closest dealership to me said i'd have to take the truck in. I'll call again tomorrow and talk to someone different. Thanks for the help.

man, going from 44's to 24lb's a big difference, your injector flow rate is probably about 5 or so, 24's are about 3.18, it may run, but DON'T GET ON IT!!.
You'll be running lean like a mofo.
Going from small to big is fine, it'll just run rich which is ok for a while, but the other way around...

Let me know what happens, I bet it spits and sputters and has a bad hesitation, hope if goes well,

Some parts suppliers offer bench flashing, too. Or you could just box it up and send to Allen....

    Allen,

So I should be ok if I go to the dealership and have them reflash it with the bigger injectors in? I can then drive home running rich and put the 24 pounders back in? Will it idle with it running that rich? I can just see the dealership now flashing it back and it not running fine and have them try to diagnose everything and tell me a bunch of crap is messing up. I'm definately going to you next time for tuning.

If you have the 44's in now, and want to put 24's in, I'd rather run rich on the way home instead of lean on the way up there, just my opinion, but it's much safer to run pig rich instead of real lean. You may foul a plug or two, but at least your won't stumble, hesitate and possibly detonate.

You may even have to keep the truck running by using the gas and brake at lights, but once you're going it should run, but rich.

    good luck,
