Well when i had my 97 z28 camaro, i bought some 17x9 ZR1 style replica rims that came with a full set of nitto 555R's and they had about 3/4 tread life left. From my experience on that particular tire, great street tire with tons of grip, handles nicely in rain and not shabby in icey conditions (late snow in march, had to drive it since i was already at school with it).

When the tire gets relatively bald (center tread lines wear out), your not going to want to drive unless its a super sunny day. If its damp/wet, you'll just slide sideways and learn to be an expert drift racer, lol. Now when the tread wears down and theres no middle line left and for the most part the tire is bald, its in the perfect or "sweet spot" for the track. It will hook like mad within the given conditions and is a very good tire.

Bottom Line: With tread, great for Daily driving and street racing: Without tread, terrible street traction except when its super sunny, but improved track performance....Most important factor, terrible mileage tire. I was lucky and got 12,000mi out of my nitto's. But on my friends 87 Buick GN with new Nitto 555R's he got 8,000 and belts were showing.

Now onto my second set of drag radials, my M/T ET Streets. I had these on 15x10 weld draglites, and all i can say is shit these tires hookup when they get warm weather street or track. When there cold, you can slide the car sideways a little bit, but after about 5 minutes of driving the tires get damn warm and with the stock fbody, you'll grenade your rearend trying to do a burnout with them being warm. (ask me, i know from experience).

On the track its the same story, once you get the tires warm, its a great gripping tire for a drag radial and probably one of the best gripping tires around on the market.

Bottom Line: Superior performance all around in warm/cold conditions once the tire is warm, i'd reccomend these tires to alot of people, and there relatively cheap. Also, unlike the Nitto's, i got about 20,000mi out of these tires before they were replaced.

    Hope this helps you,
    Dave

Also when I get my new 17x10's for the back i will be trying out the new M/T drag radials as well.
