I took my belt back to GM today to get a shorter one. No luck. They cant get a belt by the length. The 5.3 a/c belt is 960mm long and it just does let the tensioner bottom out. Any ideas? Turns out, GM cant look up a belt for a LS1 powered 86 silverado with a 04 5.3 a/c unit and a balancer with extra groves machined in. Who knew???

Ya just go to a good parts store and they will be able to grab one shorter. Not that hard to do. I dont know why they did not at gm. They have various sized belts for diff applications. OOOOH parts guys got to love them LOL

The dealer only stocks factory original equipment parts. They wouldn't stock anything if they could get away with it.

Found one. A 37.2 inch 4 rib works. The Autozone store found one in about 2 minutes. Its not GM but it works fine. Anybody know what this belt fits? Its a Duralast 372K4. Really want the all factory GM look. Finally got the 5.3 A/C mounted and both belts on. Now time for the custom A/C lines.

Good deal! I new these guys had you going in the right direction. BTW, GM/ACDelco belts are probably made by Gates anyways and they probably make the Duralast.

Hey Ryan, Here are the cross reference numbers if you have to have ACDelco.

ACDelco - 4K372
Gates -40372
Duralast - 372K4

Can you really tell the difference between that belt & the OEM belt other than the name and or #'s printed on it? That will rub off in a couple of weeks anyways won't it?
