    4L60E/700R4 Linkage Question

So I'm doing the 5.3 swap and using an '85 K-10 chassis. I have all the linkage from the 700R4 that was originally in there. What I'm curious about, is (and the picture below is a horrible photo) but is this how folks are setting their linkage up when retaining column shift? I have the module for the 4L60E mounted and I assume the linkage attaches this way using the remaining existing parts? Thanks in advance for your help.

On my 87 I removed the long selector shaft and replaced it with the short selector shaft for my linkage to line up correctly.

using a standard B&M shifter cable and 60e bracket, here's what I did.
The engagement feel great and not loose at all; pulls right into gear and stays there, nice and firm transition from P to each Gear.
