    NV4500 behind 6.0L LQ4?

Is an NV4500 behind a 6.0L LQ4 in a 4900lb truck going to feel like a lazy, heavy transmission? If so I'd rather go with a 4L80E I think.

    Thanks for any answers!

In my experience they only "feel" heavy when you're installing them. The NV4500 is a pretty popular choice to put behind a 6.0L. If you have an NV3500 now, you may not notice a difference in shifting.

NV4500 and NV3500 are two completely different animals. The 4500 is a stout truck tranny with a granny low 1st gear. It is great for heavy loads but not quick shifting. The 3500 is a light duty truck tranny that shifts fair but isn't up to heavy use or abuse.

Ended up going with the original plan and picked up a still-in-crate 4L80E for 1300$.

Yes they are very different transmissions, but I don't think one was better than the other as far as shift quality. They all shift like trucks lol.
Good deal on the 4L80E, always nice to start with something fresh.
