Thread: 1990 LSX Silverado Compound boost turbo project!

1990 LSX Silverado Compound boost turbo project!

Wanted to share my project with everyone. We have been working on this set up for some time now and its just about wrapped up. It has a custom one off KBracing compound turbo set up. Kyle @KBracing designed the kit and picked out the turbos as well. We are excited to see what the set up is going to do. It may work it may not but I'm ready to find out. The only problem I see with this set up is keeping the boost down. These compound kits are usualy seen on diesel trucks and run really high boost pressures. Right now we have it set up for 15-20psi but I'm sure we will need to adjust the waste gates to keep it that way. The motor is a stock 4.8L with rings gaped for a turbo application and head studs. Hope to have some running and track videos soon. I'm hoping for extremely quick throttle response and good mid and top range power. We will see how long this motor last. haha

this should be interesting but willing to bet the end result is the same as it would of been if it only had one turbo on it.

You may be right George. Im just waiting for my base tune from Patrick G to come in so I can fire it up. Im wondering how my 190# injectors are going to idle. Kyle said 1000hp or bust!! Im leaning towards bust hahaha!!

Interested in seeing how this works on a gasser. I feel like I'm over on a diesel forum looking at a build thread.

the compound setup works for diesels as they cant spool the large enough turbo properly, on a gas setup where the max most see is 25 psi and some extreme builds see 40 those numbers are easily attainable by a single or a twin setup. Fastest LSx and 2nd fastest LSX are both single turbo setups and around 22 psi

the heat from this setup will probably kill any power as engine bay temps will probably kill IATS but for thinking outside the box its a badass setup.
