Well I found out that wiggling the pan onto the trans to when I swapped out the tcc solenoid I half unclipped shift solenoids. 3/4 are slipping bad so looks like Im pulling the trans out. I considered a rebuild but think I'm just gonna do the 80e swap from the start. I guess my main concern is can I use a older Version? I found some 93 big block, or a 98 diesel with floor shift transfer cases on Craig's for a decent price and wasn't sure if I could use it or I should look for one behind an ls. Since I have floor shift transfer case currently I don't think it would be any more complicated then hooking up linkage. Since I'm already 4.88s it should help with 80e first gear and will let me install Fi without fear of breaking. probably get a circle d 3200 on order.

Mine surges at around 38 to 48 mph when its locked in 4th. Been doing it for a long time and with 96k still no issues. You may as well do the 80e that way its done, once. Ive yet to see a floor shifted transfer case in a nnbs, was it a rare option?

I need to take a video so that yall can see what I'm talking about. Chevy performace just came out with a 4x4 4l70 which is the option Im gonna go.

    Features:

    • 13 vane pump with a heat-treated stator support
    • Five pinion input and reaction carriers
    • High performance 2/4 servo
    • Heat-treated sun shell
    • Heavy duty low roller clutch assembly
    • 4WD Output shaft

    Warranty:
General Motors limited 12 Month warranty.

As for the floor shift I did ask for them to get me that option. I viewed it as less things to go wrong. Now I'm just in the converter debate Do I get the standard 278 mm3200 stall, 245mm 3600 circle d or I've also considered the SS 3600 from Yank. I think either of the high stalls would really get this pig moving.

Btw 370ci is bored stroke 4.8?

370 is bored .030 6.0. I have the 278 3200 and like it but sometimes I wish I had gone a little smaller (looser) on the converter. I do have a billet triple disk 3200 for when I put the 6l90 in my truck. I wonder how loose that sucker is.

The 4L60Es especially the earlier ones had a lot of TCC issues because of the introduction of PWM (pulse with modulation) style torque converter clutch apply. There is a valve in the pump and another valve in the valve body that actually wears their bores out due to the oscillation of the pwm apply. There is an upgraded tcc valve by sonnax with a teflon ring that goes into pump. For the valve body there is an upgraded valve by sonnax that you actually need to use a special reemer to enlarge the bore a bit for the new uograded valve. The rebuilt converters from my suppliers Recon and Dacco are now using a carbon clutch.

The 4L70E is not heavy duty by any means, just subtle changes from the 60,65.... go on a Trailblazer SS forums and you will see them all swapping to 80s which are near bulletproof for what you will throw at it.

I know the 70e is not indestructible, GM rates this at 495tq which my 4.8 is no where near. Stock 60 with servo and tune held up quite well until the tcc issue then me unclipping the shift solenoids and going for a drive.

I wouldn't bore out the TCC, that was GMs fix and it is just a band aid, it will do it again. There's a plug for the valve body, makes lock up a on and off instead of the 90% you get from GM.

What are they charging for that trans? Knowing GM Performance it will likely be $4k+. Why not get a built 60e from a reputable builder?
