Good Cam For 1999 silverado Daily driver

    Hey guys.

Ive looked and cant find anything maybe someone can direct me or advise me of a good cam chose.

    1999 silverado new body style.

    5.3L 4L60

    Im putting on
    OBX long tubes
    3" dual side exhaust
    volant intake with scoupe.

Im looking for a cam thats a good daily driver cam and good on gas and can keep the stock torque convertor.

Im currently building a turbo kit 70mm for the truck but just want some power in the man while.

If I were you, just a cam thats going to suit your future plans of turbo. No sense in throwing money down the drain and taking the time to install all of that over again.

i know alot of people have told me the TR220 or TR224 are good starter cams and the 5.3's really respond to them.

like ducky said though, i would just wait til you can get the turbo set up on there and get a cam better suited to that set up

I think the good ole line of thinking that hey if it makes power NA it will make power boosted.

I think all of us here would strongly suggest that you strengthen the drivetrain before throwing more power at it. No point in spending thousands on power mods just to grenade your trans and rear end.

Im tossing this cam in the the motor in the truck now. The motor on the stand is a bone stock 5.3. The transmission is a madd dog level 3 i believe. The drive shaft is one of my worries but its the big alum z71 driveshaft. Rear diff has a new clutch pack in it.

Just wanted a cheap cam to toss in this block and drive it for a while then swap out the motors and sell the motor with the cam to a friend.

That's what I was thinkin. I ran an 02-04 z06 cam with my boost set up and it worked very well, and you won't need a converter.
