    Throwing P0496

Truck threw this code last week before I left for FL: P0496

    Definition:

Evap flow during a non-purge condition

The ECM has detected pressure in the EVAP system during a non-purge condition.

    Probable cause:
    1. Purge or vent solenoid failure

    2. Plugged EVAP canister condition

    3. Failed EVAP pressure sensor

If somebody can explain to me what EVAP is I can probably give you a better example of whats wrong with the truck..

I'd say he does. Go get a new purge solenoid. It's on the intake manifold just behind the throttle body.

It may not fix it, it's tough to diagnose and repair vehicles that are somewhere else. Just posting up what little I know from my day to day encounters. Anyone smart enough to join and post on this board can replace the purge valve on an LS engine truck......and even if you don't know what it is, the person you buy it from should. If not, buy elsewhere.

Code went away today... got gas from somewhere else, so I guess Racetrac just had bad gas or something..
