Dont you just hate tranny problems......

So about 6 months ago i had my tranny rebuilt. I guess the drifts, donuts, burnouts, offroading, hauling, pulling.... got to it Well about 2 months before that i had bought some GMC 17s off a guy on craigslist who happened to be a transmission "specialist" so being loyal i took it to him and he billed me 800 which is pretty cheap if you ask me another shop was charging me 1200 for a simple rebuild no upgrades or anything (its a 2000 gmc yukon xl) well he fixes it and it works just fine.......foooooooor about 4 months truck would not move. None of the gears engaged only park. So i took it to him, being as it had warranty he fixed it. He said the oil pump had gone out. Well truck worked fine foooooooooor about 2 months. Once again i take to him and now he"s mad he keeps claiming i race it and i abbuse it and all this mess buuuut its still under warranty so he breaks it down. The truck was doing the same BS not engaging none of the gears so i thought it was the pump again. So he broke it down and had the torque converter rebuilt and then cleaned it and threw it back together and then he hits me with "you have to buy a new flywheel" DOES THE FLYWHEEL HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE PUMP GOING OUT? just wondering i already bought a new one since it was so cheap.

Converter bolts to the flywheel, other end of the converter drives the pump. SO, if say the flywheel was warped or something, maybe. Oh I also have some waterfront property in Arizona, interested?

I wouldn't trust anyone to work on your truck that says it has a flywheel.

I have seen the flexplate or flywheel as he calls it crack all the way around the crank bolts, causing it to spin out, not alowing it to spin the converter, thus vehicle dont move.

That's what mine was doing! There wasnt much damage i guess the edges of the "flexplate" on the engine side i believe were a little tapered but veeeeeery small but i just went ahead and replaced i really dont wanna have this problem anymore. Thanks everyone

A flexplate certainly would not hurt and a nice sfi one is always a plus. Pretty sure Chris at Circle D has a couple for you guys. I would also be looking closely at your converter spacing to make sure you are no less than 1/16 and no more than 3/16's. Personally I like to see an 1/8. I would look to make sure that your dowel pins are both in the block and also that the holes in the bell housing are not worn. HTH Vince

I could make it work and so could Greg. The thing we both would be concerned with is multiple fails because of the CRAP that some other people do inside these things. Greg and I are close to each other (relatively) but not really close to the OP.
