    Random Miss fire question

    my truck was originaly a 4.3 and when I bought it the previous owner put a 5.3 in it. It was throwing an engine code and when we hooked the snapon diagnostics up to it, it showed P0300(random miss fire). Daniel went into the miss fire information for the cylinders and it only showed through 6 cylinders. What could cause this? I know the 5.3 couldnt run off the 4.3 computer. So why wouldnt it show all 8 cylinders on the snap on computer?

    Bump. Im really curious to see what the issue is since Im the one that couldn't get the computer to read right.

    Did you use the vin number?

    Did it ever run normal without a misfire?

    get the pcm flashed with a 5.3L calibration and start from there.

    No didnt even look at the vin. I just entered it in the snap on. The year model and selected 5.3. Ive always done that if I know the year model truck.
