I'm just finishing up my swap and heres some extremely helpful info I've figured out.

The S & P style mounts move the motor about 1.125" forward in the engine bay. This makes you need new driveshafts, trans lines, relocate trans mount and all that fun stuff.

If you take the S&P mounts, move the 3 holes for the SBC engine mount 1" back (not enough clearance between holes to move them 1.125"), it puts the LSx motor in the same spot as the SBC motor. Then if you are using your original trans and t-case if 4wd, you use your old driveshafts without cutting them. If you use a new trans or transfer case, you use your old driveshaft with a yoke from a NBS truck, and if you are using a new t-case also, then you use a complete front driveshaft from a NBS with the same t-case and it all bolts in perfectly.

This also allows you to keep the trans mount brace in the stock location without moving it at all. My trans lines also fit without bending them or tweaking them at all.

For the radiator, use NBS upper and lower radiator hoses. Should fit with no problems at all.

Motor mount adaptor reference:
http://matt.undiagnosed.org/ls1/images/eng...mount_plate.jpg

That is a normal S&P style adaptor plate, to put the motor in the stock location, you move the 3 holes for the SBC mount to the LEFT in that drawing.
[/b]

that link...are those the correct adaptors for installing a LSx motor into the stock location? thanks

I wish I had room for 1" further back but then I'd be getting the driveshaft shortened and relocating the mechanical shift linkage for the 60e 1" further back.

What are the part numbers for the fittings that go onto the two metal fuel lines at the back of the motor? My junkyard motor didn't come with them.

Oil cooler bypass plate???

Thanks!

Call a dealership, they'll hook you up. My 2007 classic 4.8L engine has one but it's 23 miles away from here and I can't look at the PN from here.

I use the fbody cover 12551595, two bolts 11516425 and gasket 12553210.

Since this is such a popular question I figured I would post the answer...

Corvette fuel filter commonly used in OBS conversions if you are doing a returnless type fuel rail install....
Wix 33737 www.planetautoparts.com $37.93
GM 10299146
Purolator F55493
GF1822
Hastings GF336
PGF336
GKI GF1822

Connectors required to hook to the filter...
Dorman PNs

3/8" female connector DOR-800-121 www.midwayautosupply.com $7.36
5/16" female connector DOR-800-120 www.midwayautosupply.com $7.36
3/8" x 12" double ended male connector DOR-800-155 www.midwayautosupply.com $9.57

You'll need fuel injection quality fuel hose to connect the Dorman quick connects to the old steel fuel lines. I cut both the pressure and return lines about 2" before the factory filter location. Use the rubber fuel injection hose to connect to the new filter. Use 2 hose clamps on each end of the new connections. It's best if you use the hose clamps that have a smooth stainless steel liner to protect the hose. You'll need about 6 feet of hose to connect from the filter to the fuel rail if you have an extended cab. The outlet side of the filter will require the male fitting be cut to about 4"-6" long from one end and then push it into the fuel hose and double-clamp it.
[/b]

On the this returnless setup do you have to change your fuel rails?
I have an 05 5.3 and this looks like a great idea.

Here are all the books I have for reference...

How to Build High-Performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8s by Will Handzel. Publisher Cartechbooks.com ISBN 1-884089-84-4

HPBooks CHEVY LS1/LS6 PERFORMANCE by Christopher P. Endres. Publisher Penguin.com ISBN 1-55788-407-2

GM manual 88959384 "LS1 ENGINE KIT INSTALLATION GUIDE"

Another document good to have if you can get it is the ASE 16013.00-2 for GEN III V8 Specialized Engine Repair. This is a document for remanufacturing a GEN III engine.

I've also got a good Holden/Commodore fuel management manual that works as a guide for GEN III engines. I can send it to anyone that would like a copy. It's a large file and probably should be hosted somewhere to simplify downloading.

Added the fuel fitting referenced by GMCWANTSLS1.... perfect to hook up your 1/8" NPT fitting from your fuel pressure gauge/sender to your fuel rail -04 AN 7/16-20 fitting.

Thanks Jeff!

https://www.exoticperformanceplus.com/catal...x.html?item=744

An alternate method using Russell fittings from Jegs.com...

799-614204 -04 female to 1/8" male
799-661441 1/8" NPT female union

Another helpful fitting for an inline -04 AN line is...

799-670290 has -04 male on one end -04 female on other end and tapped 1/8" in the middle for the gauge.
