up the compression in that big block and edelbrock make a nice MPFI fuel injection system for bigblocks, that would be a sweet combo, but realistically the lq9 will prob be cheaper than doing that, i think Edelbocks MPFI setup is like $2000 alone....either will make a nice hotrod/street setup

If it were mine, I would preserve it, since my Grand Father bought it new, I would rebuild to factory specs, keep it low mileage and drive it on weekends just for kicks. But again, this is me.

Ultimately you have to do what YOU want, good luck anyway you go!

I don't care if it was a 454 truck or a v6 truck, if it had tbi on it throw it out. The tbi 454s were turds anyway. If you are into that original type then leave it in but don't expect to drive it. IMO puttin the lq4 in it would bring it more respect then restoring it as original. With the lq9 you will have lots more power, lots better economy, lots more reliability, and you can actually drive it without problems. Personally, I can't stand the garage/trailer queen type. As far as looks go, I would keep the 454SS look. It's sweet and is makin a comeback.
And btw, if that combo comes with all accessories, ECM, and harness then that's not a bad deal and I would go for it.

I just sold a 1990 ss454 pickup that I had put a vin b 5.3 with a magnacharger in it. I loved the truck it was a dog with the tbi 454 getting 12 mpg the 5.3 with the maggie was getting over 20 and would run 12's all day long at 5000 feet above sea level. I was glad I made the switch.
