so new im up the creek without a paddle

im extremely new to mechanic work. i know a little but nowhere near enough to do much. i recently bought a 1998 gmc k1500 that had a blowed motor. i got lucky and had a friend who had a vortec 5.7 he gave me. after doing my first motor swap ever with no clue what i was really doing other than what the internet and all data said i was finally able to crank my truck yesterday. but if it wasnt for bad luck i wouldnt have no luck. the motor turned out to be no good. now i have decided since i dont know anything about mechanic work why not go all out and attempt a real swap. i want to say goodbye to the vortec 5.7 and put a vortec 6.0 in its place. i know its possible anything is. i just need some off yall with more experience and knowledge to steer a young beginner in the right directions on swapping these motors. as far as tranny goes im gonna junk the 4l60e which is slipping anyways and replace it with a 4l80 simply for 2 reasons: 1)its a better tranny and 2) i need the low end because this truck has 38.5 inch boggers on it. any help is extremely appreciated guys. thanks JJ

sound like a good plan, make sure you take pictures and document the build as you go along for a reference.

The only thing that is going to matter for you is 6.0 and 4x4. 2500s had the 4l80e, so thats taken care of. As for gears, with 38s I recommend 4.88s or lower.
