Question Need information on how to swap a 305 tbi to a 305 Vortec

I would like dig in brains of the society here. I'm wanting to swap my 1994 305 tbi engine for a 1996 305 vortec or a ls1 engine. Any suggestions out there?? Where to start and what to expect.

don't put a 305 in your truck. Lots of guys have put 4.8/5.3/6l engines in your body truck. you can buy off the shelf parts for most of the swap: harness, headers, ect

I would just buy a 5.3. It will have alot more power than a 305 vortec.

Now with doing a 4.8, 5.3, or a 6.0 I would like to improve on fuel mileage.

IMHO the 5.3 will get better gas mileage and be more reliable. PLUS they have more power. Many people on this site have done the swap. Tons of info on here

Where to start and what to expect all depends on your mechanical and electrical background.
