    Cam for 5.3 in Chevelle

I need a little help picking out a cam for my brother's 72 Chevelle. We are going to be swapping in my old 5.3. We'll be using a Turbo 350 trans with a stall less than 3500, stock heads, 3.73's, LS6 intake, and longtube headers. Over on LS1tech, a few people suggested that I rum a cam around 226 duration. and it has to have a hard loping idle

At least 226 FTW! You've got a lot less weight (although it's a heavy car) than a truck, good gears, and a converter that's loose enough to handle something in the mid 230's on a 111-112. Be careful going over .590" lift.

That's exactly what i was thinking. what do you think of the Speed Inc. SI5 : 231/237 .589/.595 112?

in a 5.3 i would go with a high 220's...there is a nice 228/228 cam that would be tits in that car

Too late for that, already ordered the cam (SI5). It'll be alright though, considering this cam should be pretty good in a 5.7 or 6.0, should the need arise (my brother has a tendency to destroy great running engines/cars).

Should i just get a set of Comp 918's to go with the cam or is there a good lower priced set i could get?

Figured I might as well post a vid... I know, crappy camera. I'm going to use my dad's camera and get some vids at the track and a better idle/rev/burnout vid.
