    +++5.3L Questions+++

    I have a 5.3 in my 2000 Silverado rclb 4x4 and lately when i change my oil the drain plug end is covered in metal. (not piled up) but very noticeable. I change oil every 4-5k. i use all synthetic, royal purple mobil etc.. Should i be concerned? if so i have an extra 5.3 laying at my shop what budget builds do you think i should do for my dd? Im asking the pros here so give me some input plse. thank you

    Yeah I have dust like that collected as well. As long as you don't see big chunks I think you will be ok

    Depends BRO. What all you wanna do. Call a local machine shop with your ideas and see what they recommend and what their prices are. I would bore it out to 3.905 and put some LS1 pistons and turn that 5.3 into a 5.7 get the crank, rods, n pistons balanced, new bearing, ARP rod bolts, New timing chain, Big cam, oil pump, push rods, valve springs, bigger injectors if u dont have them already...... That should kill ur budget

    Budget what's that?
    If your gonna take the other motor and just throw it in it shouldn't cust much to much to do some bolt ons and a cam. It all depends on what you want out of it.

    What are you wanting to do with it in the long run?
