Ok so I have a cut through into my bed. I will have my system setup back there and want it to be seen. Has anyone heard of, been part of, or have any idea as to how to cut my back seat into buckets. I really wanna use the factory seat, just modify it. I have tossed around the idea of building a second consoul for the rear, an amp rack, even leaving the seat part there but removing the center section of the back, it would be kinda cool for road trips to lay down on I guess. Ok folks hit me.

when i tried to cut the seat the upholstery shop said not to do it,because the seat was going to loose its "infrastructure". and in case of an accident they were ganna fly around everywhere. i call it bs. either than that,bucket seats would look nice too.
Yeah sounds like bs to me too. I'm a custom guy, that to me is not "unbolt this bolt this in it's place". It's not custom if you dont cut something apart and make something new outta it. It's just no fun to buy replacment stuff.
Anyway that said, moving back into how we should do it. Folks?
I guess if you just take a sawsall and slice throught the center of the seat then yah it would collaspe, but who's gonna do that withtout putting in some sort of new support.

I'd imagine, pulling it out....supporting the side back sections...removing small chunk (so you still have fabric to wrap around) from center, you SHOULD be able to make it work. Adding/shaping foam if necessary. If you're just doing the back, I don't think you'll lose TOO much.
So does hacking up a back seat that will never hold up once you're done.

That's if I'm hacking,not my style. I have done this stuff for years, just looking for info from those who might have tried before me. Guess we will find out as I will be the first. gTeran1 might wanna keep an eye on this thread. I don't know what I will do yet for design, but it will look good when I am finished. Forgive me if I gave the impression I was going to chainsaw my rear seat.
