This truck was built on a budget, by Jon, so i'm not sure what it all costs, but you can get a good idea on new parts:
    Cam kit: around $700
    Shorties: $250-400 (no cats)
    Magnaflow: $100 (muffler only)
CAI mod: free (cut bottom of box out)
    Free KN filter

Yes, finally at the Shootout this last weekend.

    14.3 sec @ 94mph
Not sure how that stacks up, but I say pretty good for a geared, cammed, shorty, exhaust 4.8L.
That beats an SStruck, VHO, and most stock TBSS', hell at SAR even hangs with the stock 2010 Camaros lol. Also beats a Hemi, Ford L and a lot of other stuff, just from some simple mods.

Ya, this 4.8L has the ASA cam. The 5.3L build got the 220 cam.

Just an fyi, the 08 truck we did with a smaller cam, 218 and shorties laid down 317hp, so they are right in line with the classic trucks, but i think they make a little more HP.

    later,

Did anyone notice the baseline power for the 4.8 is a little higher than the baseline power for the 5.3 in this thread?...

I'm new to these trucks, will a stock 4.8 run with or outrun a stock 5.3?

My sisters 4.8 is almost identical to my truck (minus the fact that mine is a z71 and hers is just a 4x4)... she couldn't hang stock to stock.

    Great thread.

I just happened across a 4.8 rclb dirt cheap and after reading this thread, I'm considering something I never did before, which is buying a 4.8.

Keep us posted on any additional add ons.

I may have missed it, but what gears are in this project truck?

It currently has 4.10's in it, but I'm not sure at the time of the dyno, originally it had 3.73's.
