    engine swap

hi everyone...i'm new here and would like to ask for some help with my 2k suburban engine swap...i want more torque and mid range power....the existing engine is an 5.3L...i would like to replace it with an LQ9...is this a direct swap and will the ecm work without any changes, swaps or modifications....i have the 4L80E trans and 4-wheel drive....also...any advice on a different engine would help...i want to make it simple so i don't have to go to some expert and pay an arm and a leg for help...i'm in so cal...if that makes any difference...thanks in advance for all the help....

What kind of Suburban came with a 5.3 and a 4L80 trans from the factory? Or are you swapping the 5.3/4L60 for a 6.0/4L80? If so, the trans swap is a lot more involved than the engine swap.

if you already have the 5.3/80e in the burb then swapping to the 6L LQ9 is a piece of cake, just swap your intake to the 6L long block and drive away. The tune will really need to be updated. You may need to swap the fuel injectors from the 6L fuel rail to the 5.3 fuel rail. Be sure to tell the tuner which part number fuel injectors you're using.

yes, its the same engine configuration and all the parts interchange. Getting your PCM updated is a must. Swapping the 6L injectors into the 4.8L intake is needed to maximize fuel mixture if the injectors from your old engine are smaller than the 6L injector in fuel flow rate.
