nothing new today. Worked on installing the headlight wiring harness and put new lightbulbs in the crystal clear headlight assemblies. Tomorrow I pick up a new driver side battery tray, 1998 Vortec V8 throttle cable and other small parts. Maybe I'll start building the new exhaust crossover from the driver side to the passenger side Trick Performance exhaust tube.

Nothing spectacular to report tonight. New driver side battery tray is installed. The fender wells have dimples marked exactly where you need to drill to install a factory battery tray. 98 Vortec V8 throttle cable is installed, plenty long. All the lights are installed in the grille, though the turn signal lenses are cracked even though they're new. Had to put lights in every socket and buy new plastic nuts for the grille to hold the turn signal lenses. I siliconed the plastic nuts into place since they wanted to fall out of the square holes in the grille when the screw wasn't in place.

I guess I could download the tune to see what year it is. Didn't think of doing that until now. I'm not anywhere as familiar with the truck engines as I am with the Fbody engines. Also, there is no telling what this engine came out of, could have even been a utility van. Won't really know until I can get the VIN off the tune.

Wow, noticed something I had not thought of, a downpipe doesnt have any room to exit the engine compartment. Looks like fabrication time is ahead of me. Notch the firewall or modify the front mount exhaust manifold? I'll have to ponder that one for a little while. I guess that may be why they don't manufacture this exhaust anymore.

I noticed the cover too but kept my mouth shut. They used that cover only in 1999 and 2000. 01's had the rounded cover.

1999's have grey window switches too...LOL
