What would be a good Cam for a fairly stock truck with LT's intake and exhaust and tune coming?

I'm not goin to run some out of the box cam. I have a friend that can get me any custom grind for cheap. Whats the use of running a "usual" cam??

Well for one its a proven cam that does great in the 5.3... The best IMO, If you have a hook up for a cheap custom grind, I woud do a high lift 220/220

Ill cut you any cam you want (380) and install it for free!!!
TRT I like the 228 cams on a 114LSA myself. BUT, you do need at least a 2800 stall.

I'm not saying it just because I'm selling one, but a lot of guys like the 216/220 since the power band starts basically from idle and climbs on up.

As far as why you would want an "out of the box" cam - the reason is that they (Comp, Thunder Racing, Lingenfelter, Lunati...) put a ridiculous amount of research and development into the cams to determine what will work best with a given vehicle. That's why you'll find guys that swear by a certain cam. Some swear by the 216/220, others by the 220/220 or 224/224.

A lot of those guys have been through a number of cams and like a certain one for their own reasons - where th powerband is, where the torque is, how it idles, how it lopes, gas mileage, tease of tuning, etc.

Cool

Go with something smaller than a 220/220 in a truck.
