A TH400 dry with no converter is 139lbs. A 4l80e dry with no converter is 178lbs. For a TH400 you would have to hassle with different cooler lines, flexplate, driveshaft, crossmember, probably have a non lockup converter and have no overdrive. With a 4l80e you just modify cooler lines, get a new yoke, modify crossmember, and change wiring and still have full elec. control, overdrive, and lockup converter. With just a reprogramming kit I would trust 650hp with either trans. I just think for as easy of the swap it worth just going 80e. If you did your own turbo kit you can rebuild an 80e no problem. Good luck hope that helped in your decision.

Most sports require one ball, motocross requires two.

Racing isn't a matter of life and death, it's much more important than that.

same amount of work and changes to do either swap. It's much cheaper to do a 400 swap. Could do the entire swap for less than a good 80e stall.

No doubt it is cheaper and probably much less parasitic draw but I like being able to keep an overdrive. If the overdrive is no issue TH400 is the way to go.

TH400, RMVB, Transbrake & Neal Chance here. Stout combo, no worries about power level. Build for build, I think the 400 is cheaper.

No OD does suck (literally & figuratively) for cruising around.

    Comes down to preference.

call chance converters, tell them what transmission you're running, let them know you're running a 3bolt LS1 flywheel and they will figure it out.
just an fyi, been running my chance converter for a very long time, no issues, also, if you're going th400, do it once, Mike's Transmission.

Like Allen said, call Chance, answer a lot of questions, it shows up, and you are happy. Simple.

400 is much lighter by the time you figure in convertor size, tranny weight, and fluid volume..
