    Yep, at least in the old days the bearings are smaller the farther rearward...so if the installer put the rear bearing in the front the cam won't go in.

    If i remember correctly the middle is the largest and then 2&4 are a bit smaller then 1&5 are the smallest

    Well with it off the engine stand and at the machine shope we got to play around a bit... If we try to insert the cam from the rear of the engine it works all the way through UNTIL it gets to the front cam bearing and it wont finish going through. The machineist feels he put the wrong bearing in cocked to a angle or something. So he is going to order a new front and all and handle it and get it back to me asap

    lets just hope it is just the wrong set of bearings. old whitey needs to be at SAR

    I dont have enuf off days till right before SAR to get her running. So there isnt a chance it will make it to SAR cause I wont have time to secure a trailer and I doubt the tune will be lined out in just a few days. I hope to have her cranked and cruising just not ready for a 10 hour trip. This last Saturday was the hail mary day that if everything went right I may of made it. But... looks like thats all down the drain now. Another year of spectation

    exactly, you just said it a 10 hour trip, let a friend drive while you sit in the truck on a uhaul trailer and tune it. that way you have nothing to distract you.

    Alright. So the machinist had the bearing in wrong. He got it fixed and back to me today. I got the camshaft put in but sadly I am sick as a dog so that is all I did today. Hopefully tomar Ill get the oil pump timing gears and all put on and then put the heads on this weekend on so on and so forth. Also for further reference. According to this builder the bearings ARE different. 1 and 5 are same, 2 and 4 are the same and 3 is different. That was the instructions he got for these bearings anyway.
