One guy in town that I talked to asked me who degreed the cam in my truck. Well all the other cam swaps I have done all we did was stick in the cam and line up the dots on the sprockets. He told me you had to degree a cam when installed. I am a little lost here so can someone help me out?

degree'n the cam is not necessary; i'm not saying don't do it, or it's not better, but hundreds of us install cams straight up and never check'em and they all work out just fine.

Definately not detonation. Looks like a oiling issue..
Any other thoughts? Has anyone seen anything like this? On a motor with only 1700 miles
