How many horses am i looking at with aftermarket cam with lq4 or the lq9 compared to the ls1.
The lq4/lq9 engines make around the same power compared to the ls1. An lq4/lq9 is basically an iron block ls2 aside from the few details I mentioned earlier.

The problem with the LS version engines is that people ask way way too much money for them. You can find a good running lq4 with under 75,000 for under $1000 if you look hard enough.

Honestly, I would get whichever you find cheaper. The ls1 and lq4/lq9 are going to make almost the same amount of power. The 6.0 engines have much more room to grow though if you ever decide to go to a 408 or other larger cubed engine.

I agree with randomhero. I'm getting an lq4 for my swap in my silverado. I'm going with a blower cam and eventually i'm going to turbo it.

I just swapped my 5.3 for a 6.0 (I say I did but the folks at Nelson Performance did all the work). I agree with the future potential of the lq4/9...plus they are tons cheaper...gives you more money for other mods which will certainly come.
