The stock rad will work fine. You will have to go through your local referee station to check for legality. AFAIK it is legal to put any pollution controlled newer engine in any older vehicle as long as you install all smog related equipment during the install. Get a 2002 Fbody engine since it doesn&#39;t have an EGR or smog pump requirement, if your referee station will approve the conversion. In TX we use most of the CARB regulation in the largest cities but older vehicles that were not OBDII are tested on a sniffer vs. the electronic checking of the OBDII port. Since your truck was a 97 I am sure it will have to be electronically checked.

If you had the Vortec V8 then the fuel pump should work. Dead head the fuel line into a pressure gauge and see how much pressure it outputs. It should be somewhere near 80 psi.

good to know about the f body, thanks... is it just the 2002 or other years also?

yea its a vortec v8 will the fuel pressure need to be regulated or is it just a plug and play deal?
