I know several guys in here are running with Nelson tunes but it seems that most live near him and go to him to have it done. Does anyone have a mail order tune, one where he sent you the PCM and you installed it yourself? I want to get a Nelson tune but I'm kind of leary of getting one without him actually checking my truck and modifing the tune like he's done for many others. I've e-mailed Allen already and he says his tune will be better than any hand held, but I'm cautious by nature. How much better than my Predator? How much more time will a Nelson tune knock off my 1/4 compared to the Predator? Any comments welcome. I'm gathering info while I'm saving money.

Well, I am supposed to be getting a tuned PCM here this week. I was kind of leary about it as well but for what you get, I think it is a lot better than a Predator or any other handheld. There is more adjustability and flexibility in what you can do with a LS1 edit. I will let you know how it all goes once I get it and install it. I think with Allan's knowledge and experience with LS engines that his work is going to be great, mail order or not. I'll keep you posted.

We did my tune online but I had to buy LS1edit to do it. Could not afford down time and he was not set up to swap PCM. I told him how I wanted it and he was able to set up to the way I like it. Motor setting are close to other's I have seen. I only thing I beleive you have to worry about is the shift point and how hard the trans shifts. Rest of the setting I think are common for all vehicles with the same motor. The only thing would be the fuel trims but if you sent him that he can get it close to a good flat line. This will help the preformance and keep rick and lean condition the same thoughout the rmp range.

Hey, Y2K, your in Cali. right?
So Am I, Allen did my tune and i am really happy with it. I used to have the HPP3, And his tune is by far better. I had him tune it for our crappy 91 octane gas, no pinging or detonation and the truck pulls harder than before, I havent been to 1/4 track but i plan on going next weekend, so i can see the difference in ET's compared with his tune and HPP3's tune. Oh and his customer service is Awesome.

When Allen first flashed my PCM, it was how his mail order tune would have been. The A/F was very close and timing was way up there. We went back and relogged it then leaned it out a bit more and added like 2* more timing. I could not tell the difference between the reg. tune and the tweaked one.

I think 1BADHD went from a Predator to a Westers tune and still gained 0-60 time and MPG. So... since Westers leaves some still in there I'd assume Allens would be better.

    EDIT for incorrect company...
