Thread: Two Kills in one night.

    First race was against my friend. He rocked me when I had the 20s on, but now they are gone, and I have it lower and I want to see what would change when we race. He has a 2001 Ext. Cab 5.3 Z71 with highflow cats and a super 40 thats dumped. When I used to race him in the past I would be able to take him up to about 65 and then he would start walking me up until about 92ish and then I would hang in until he governed out.

    But anyway we are headin down I10 to this buddies house and he has a passenger and so do I. We start at 60mph (my sweet spot when doing a highway race) and I do 3 honks and we are off. He jumps out to a hood length, and right when we get to 75 I start to walk awayyyyyy. Far away. I get a truck and a half by 95, he governs out and I run to about 102 and let off. I figured he would walk me again seeing as how he has the bigger displacement and his top end is a wee bit better than mine, but I guess not.

    The second kill was two trucks that got killed by me. Me and the same guy with the z71 were leaving the party that we were at and heading back down I10 (which is a four lane freeway for about two miles and then turns into a 2 lane). Im in front of the z71 as we are getting on the freeway and I see this dodge regcab already on the freeway and so I decide to mess with it. As Im getting on the freeway I get right up next to him and punch it just to mess around. He doesnt do anything and so I just keep puttin along. Im in the far right lane and can see my buddy in the z71 comin up on the side of me. we are doing about 70 now and I thnk he wants to race so i look over and get my video camera to let my girlfriend video tape it. As im fumbiling in my bag for the camera, my buddy punches it in the middle lane and starts going, I look up and im like wtf I wasnt ready. But as I look over to the far left lane I see the dodge truck racing my buddy in the z71. I set the camera down mash my foot to the floor and start to attempt to catch the two truck lengths they had on me. I get within half a truck length and by this time im right at like 108, I catch both of them and keep on going and pass them at like 117. I slow back down and the dodge guy is infuriated that he just got owned so he tries to do a flyby on me when im at 65, but I just rock the gas pedal and stop any attempt of him doing that. I chuckle and he goes to exit.

    Im pretty sure the dodge was a v6. But Im not really sure. Im pretty stoked that I rocked my buddy in the Z71.

    I have a video of the race against my buddy in the z71 but I have to buy some stuff so the video camera can hook up to the computer, so itll take me a while to post it up.

    It was a good night though. I dont get many races because either someone is too fast or too slow, so I dont bother, but tonight was different.

    Now listen to these guys.... a V6 turbo would be awesome and to be beat by a v6 turbo in a fullsize would be something else..

    Well I think about it like this.

    The front mount that I want with the intercooler is going to cost in the 7k range only because all NEW pipe needs to be fabricated etc etc. Not to mention I would need to beef up the tranny and do small other misc objects. So with the front mount and everything else lets say roughlyyyy 10k for the turbo on the V6.

    So lets look at the pricing on a 6.0 and turbo.

    It would cost anywhere from 4,000-5,000 for the front mount on the lq4 (since they already have a kit ready for that), and the lq4 would run me about 1700 for a low mileage one. I still havent broken &#036;8,000 yet. Im gonna get my rearend done soon anyway so Im not including the cost into the cost of the front mount. Im going to get a FLT 65e for the tranny and have a mild cam with the 6.0. I somewhat estimated some costs for a 6.0, 65e, cam, stall, rearend, and turbo, and I would be in the 10k-12k range.

    My V6 has 80k on it, and its running strong, but I want a low mileage engine anyway..

    Its a great thought guys but I dont think im heading in that direction.

    ITS ONLY MONEY? HAVE ALLEN FAB YOU UP SOME PIPING. I KNOW HE CAN DO IT. IT WON&#39;T COST THAT MUCH. HE FABBED SOME PIPING ON MY TRUCK. IT WORKS FINE. I BET YOU CAN GET A TURBO ON THAT TRUCK FOR UNDER 5 GRAND. IT WILL BE DIFFERENT, LIGHT, AND FAST&#33; I BET YOU COULD GET LOW 13 HIGH 12 IN THAT SETUP AND STILL HAVE THE GAS MILAGE.

    Glad your having fun&#33; Go See Billy at TRT, have him build you a turbo kit, get an alum manifold and have 6 injector bungs welded on it and your fuel issues are solved. Youll have a quick ass truck for sure&#33;
